favorite friday

this week started oh so slow, but now that it is friday seems to have gone by in a flash.
i'm ready for the weekend and in turn will be ready to start a new week.

some of my favorites this week.

~ feathers found in the house (from comforters, pillows, cushions) given to me as magical finds

magical find.

~ dancing after dinner with matt & the little ones

~ bea's ever expanding vocabulary, including the word awesome - it sounds so cute

~ lying in bed with henry watching whale rider thursday afternoon

~ his drawing of paikea riding a whale

paikea.

~ dinner with friends

~ spending the evenings with matt zipping through season 2 of heroes

have a great weekend!

play/repeat

discovered this via hula seventy last night and could not pass up sharing it.
we've been listening to it repeatedly. loud.
i clicked on it right before putting henry to bed, and we were all drawn to it instantly. matt and i thought the same thing almost immediately. there should be more (positive) music like this. also, how often do you hear jane austen's name dropped in a hip hop song?

beautiful modern poetry + beautiful light filled video = hitting the repeat button.

Craft Hope for Haiti Shop Spreading seeds of hope one stitch at a time

the crafting community. because you people seriously rock and know how to open your hearts.

if you are like me and a little slow to the game then maybe you haven't heard about craft hope's etsy store - craft hope for haiti. if you haven't (i just learned about it over the weekend) you really should check it out. so many lovely and unique hand crafted items for sale with all proceeds going to doctors without borders. as of this morning they have had over 1000 sales and have raised over $20,000!!!

my donation at craft hope for haiti was posted early this evening and has already sold! ***thank you***

if you haven't made a donation they are taking a break from accepting donations for a couple weeks. they still have hundreds more to post! keep checking in with them though because the store IS still open and they may be accepting more donations at a later time. and don't forget that craft hope always has a donation project going. project 6 is still underway and there is plenty of time to knit that up by they february 14 deadline.

i can knock out three favorites in one.
the band.
the staple singers.
the weight.

{and i have convinced myself that the muppet band is loosely based on the band}

two bands that give me goosebumps and leave me in awe.

{not sure how this works but if it works for you i recommend listening to the whole concert}

this week has been full of busy work. not of the house variety either as the state of our home would prove. priming, crafting, sewing, knitting, and playing. it's been a good week and while we're beginning to feel the pressure to get some last minute things done i think it has all been relatively stress free. or maybe just stress reduced. hoping your week leading up to christmas is full of good cheer, warmth, and loved ones.

paper cutting
he says he wants to make something, but really he just likes to cut paper.

library time
leisurely library time. sans kiddos.

alone in the car
driving alone. sans kiddos (these things don't happen very often). it was a beautiful foggy night.

nativity play
wild and creative nativity play involving mummy pits.

when i read (and enjoyed) this post at bee house hives the other day i decided to take sarah's idea and make off with it. friday seems like the perfect day for me as it one of my favorite days of the week. it kicks off the weekend, which to a play at home mom doesn't necessarily mean much except that matt will be home for 2 whole days and that's a winner in my book. it's also a nice way for me to reflect on my/our week and just another way to appreciate those little things that end up being such a big part of who we are. so here are some of my favorites.

snowman forest. i have weak spot for snowmen. maybe it's the lack of snow here. EVERYWHERE seems to have snow but here!
snowman forest

coffee. knitting. warm electric blanket. christmas lights. cuddly boy next to me. underdog cartoons. napping dog & napping bea.
these are a few of my favorite things.

chef bea. especially in the oversized hat. busy hands and a busy mind. she loves hats even if she can barely see.
chef bea

someone to share the electric blanket with. first thing in the morning that is where you can find him. he likes to be warm.
and he likes old cartoons. today it was underdog, other days it's 1940's superman and popeye cartoons. i like them too.
snuggly boy with a snuggly.

being able to whip up a fresh batch of laundry soap to help me tackle all the laundry i've let pile up this week. i aim for this to be my only housekeeping chore all weekend.
