i thought it was april.

this week has been a taste of summer, but with a little less humidity and much more pollen.

we've been spending a lot of time outdoors but with frequent breaks inside (i've already had a sunburn).

little feet.

lots of exploring going on in the backyard. eating mint and wild onions. climbing of fences. mud pies.

today.

bubble blowing. chalk drawing. seed planting. laundry hanging. bucket rides.

pre-dinner fun.

and even some slow moments for mama. though they don't last long.

zero motivation.

i have been reading so much lately. a sure sign that the babes are getting bigger and more self sufficient. i think i've read 2 entire books in a week! that is some pre-baby reading there. it's been such a treat, though i'm not getting much else done. but i don't mind.

what's on your reading lists right now?

chillaxin.

oh spring.

you bring us warmth. you bring us cold again.

you show us our glaringly white winter legs.

let the sun shine.

let the sun shine.

saying goodbye to winter today.

the weather was beyond enjoyable. all the woolens dried in one day! windows and doors were open. a certain young boy was running around shirtless, which then led to a little sister doing the same. strawberries were eaten out on the back porch. snail shells were hunted. dishes were ignored. more fruit was eaten outside. the swings were flying high. welcome home from work beers were enjoyed on the lawn. a curmudgeonly dog soaked up some rays. and a large salad was enjoyed for dinner.

now off to tend to those dishes.

glad to see you spring. see you tomorrow.

yes. it's still raining.

lots of rain in these parts lately. i'm hoping when it goes it takes the humidity with it. i get really grouchy when it's this humid. we've been making trips to the library, bookstore, home improvement store, yarn shops, grocery stores. you name it - i'm looking for a reason to go there. fortunately, it seems to be more for my sanity than the littles.
um, it's raining here
i honestly have never seen this much rain in the 8.5 years i have lived here. in savannah it flooded anytime you had a good rain, but here? nope. crazy things happening here. schools closing, businesses closing, a lot of roads closed. i heard this morning we had 15 inches of rains since friday. that was before it rained all day! as of now it doesn't look like it is going to let up much until sunday.

the good news is we may be out of our drought situation.
and we have a lot of puddles to stomp.

thank you warmth

contentment
fill and pour
for giving us time to slowly enjoy the day outside. for letting us open the windows and inviting the breeze inside. for helping us slow down the days a bit and enjoy our tasks a little more.

glorious rain!

i don't think it has rained here since the end of august. yes. seriously.

i've been sluggish and tired all day and wasn't up for puddle stomping
and splashing myself, but knew that was just what the boy needed.

he caught rain in a cup and drank from it.
he stomped in the biggest puddle he could find.
he dug holes in the mud.
he ran in the rain.

his smile got bigger and bigger the harder it rained. and the giggles got louder and longer.

and that was all i needed to perk up my day and give me a small boost of energy.
